2pm-4pm FREE House Research with Rebecca Hunter

October 19 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Thank you to everyone who signed up – we are full for this month.

Have you ever wondered who built your house or who lived there before you? Are you looking for inspiration to help restore your historic home? The Museum has the resources and the researchers to find out! Walk through the fascinating process of looking back in time, learn some amazing facts, and hopefully find some old photos.

Donations encouraged.

ABOUT REBECCA:
Rebecca Hunter has extensively researched structures and compiled studies on the unique architecture of Elgin. These studies cover Sears and other kit homes, the use of ornamental concrete blocks in Elgin architecture, and the current uses for neighborhood grocery stores and rural outbuildings. Hunter is available for consultation about individual houses, for conducting surveys of municipalities, and for presentations, lectures and workshops on mail order buildings, historic preservation, architectural salvage and other topics. She is a member of the Elgin, Illinois Heritage Commission. Find out more about her research: kithouse.org
