2pm Annette Baldwin will present “Carnegie Libraries in Illlinois”

Hundreds of library buildings were built across the U.S. through the philanthropy of Andrew Carnegie, and Illinois ranks third in number of Carnegies built. Historian and public speaker Annette Baldwin, who has visited every extant Carnegie Library in Illinois, found the libraries in various states of preservation, expansion and adaptive reuse. Annette will take you on a vividly illustrated Visual Journey to discover the history, architecture and the presence of the Carnegie Library in the Illinois community .
