7pm-8:30pm Dairies to Prairies Film and Discussion at Gail Borden Public Library

View our feature-length documentary (created with Grindstone Productions) telling a nearly forgotten story about Elgin’s first wealth, the dairy industry, and how land use and agriculture are changing rapidly in Kane County.┬áLearn how Elgin once set the national price for butter through the Elgin Board of Trade. That the Gail Borden Public Library was named after the inventor of condensed milk. How many acres of forest preserves and restored prairies are managed by the Kane County Forest Preserves.

Hosted by Shared Harvest, the Elgin Food Cooperative and Elgin History Museum. Healthy snacks provided.
