Brown Bag Lunch: Dairies to Prairies

September 14 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Eat your lunch and learn more about the Museum’s Dairies to Prairies documentary and traveling exhibit project! Tomorrow, Thursday, 9/14, at 12 noon at the Elgin History Museum, Elgin historian Jerry Turnquist will present how the dairy industry started in Elgin in the 1850s, the significance of the industry to Elgin’s development and how it folded. Bill Briska will connect the dairy industry’s use of land to today’s forest preserves and other protected lands showing clips from the new documentary. If you live west of Elgin, you will want to know how the history of your home fits into Elgin history.
