March 19 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm CDT

On September 18, 1885, the body of seventeen-year old Frank Charles Thiel, a Bible salesman who hailed from Elgin, was found in a hastily dug grave beneath a culvert on a country road south of Dixon, Illinois, brutally murdered.  The riveting account of the murder, Death of a Colporteur: The Story of the Murder at Bloody Gulch Road, was written by his great nephew, John C. Thiel. Copies of the book are available in the museum store.
