School & Group Programs
A visit to the Elgin History Museum offers a new perspective – whether making a watch in the Elgin factory, building a cobblestone house, or recreating the Road Race route, the Museum offers several educational programs for kids. The educational programs offer hands-on components and are tailored to be developmentally appropriate for groups of all ages and learning styles. Scouts
Come to the Elgin History Museum for your next scout program – use fun from the past to help fulfill requirements. If your scout group wants something different from the programs in the page linked above, just ask. We are happy to tailor programs to your scouts’ needs.
General Programs
Past programs have included: The life of Mother Jones, Elgin Parks, The Elgin Temperance Movement, Genealogy programs, Bungalows in Elgin, 19th century cooking demonstration, musical celebrations and more!
Speakers Bureau
The Museum offers lectures at your facility by members of our Speaker’s Bureau, available on a variety of interesting historical topics. An honorarium is required for each speaker. Discounts are available for Society members and for programs presented at the Museum instead of at your location. Call the Museum at 847-742-4248 to schedule a program or to request additional information. A list of our current programs is provided below.
History Fair
The annual Elgin History Fair, FREE to the public, will take place in late April at the Elgin History Museum located at 360 Park Street. For more info, click the link above.
Summer Passport Program
The Passport to Adventure program runs from May 1 until Labor Day and encourages families to visit over 50 museums and nature centers in Kane and DuPage Counties. Families who visit the Elgin History Museum can pick up a FREE passport. Please note that entry to the Elgin History Museum is children are free with a paying adult.
