History Fair – Spring
This wonderful event is great for families that want to step back into the past! This event is open to the public and is a great way to explore Elgin’s past with hands on activities such as building a cobblestone house, exploring the mechanics inside a watch and getting a chance to try out cleaning laundry the old fashioned way! This event is always held on the museum grounds rain or shine.
All Car Show – Summer
This event has been held at the museum since 2012 and is always a big hit with car lovers. This event is co-sponsored by Chicagoland Thunderbird Club and Mustang Restorations. The cars that fill the parking lot are always a sight to see! Past years have had Mustangs, Thunderbirds, Corvettes and much more! Event is free but donations are encouraged. Food and drinks are available for purchase and all proceeds go to help the museum.
Annual Museum Benefit – Fall
This great annual event brings supporters and friends of the Elgin Area Historical Society during the one night gala event that features entertainment, great food and wonderful silent auction items. All support goes toward helping support programs and further the mission of the Elgin Area Historical Society. This event is a must for many so tickets sell out fast!
Cemetery Walk – Fall
This annual event has been held since 1987 and has been supported by the Elgin History Museum. Guides walk visitors through the Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin while they learn about the history of Elgin residents and the cemetery itself. For more general information click here.
